Karunanidhi threatens to immolate himself; Jaya the cause?
With the country seeing enough instances of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa coming down heavily on the DMK members, this case of the probable converting of the state-of the art library to a hospital has irked Karunanidhi to a severe extent.
The proposal to convert the world class Anna centenary Library at Kotturpuram in Chennai to a hospital by the AIADMK regime has put the relationship between both the parties to a new low. Karunanidhi has commented that he was ready to seek the Supreme Court's intervention against this decision.
Karunanidhi commented, "If the government still goes ahead with its initiative of shifting the library functioning in the name of our mentor Anna, I will then commit self immolation against the Jayalalithaa government’s decision." He made this comment while speaking at the DMK’s by-election campaign meeting at Sankarankoil on Thursday.
Further raining verbal blows at the ruling AIADMK regime, Karunanidhi said that Jayalalithaa had not kept her promise of solving the power crisis in the state, and added that the state could benefit from the Koodankulam nuclear power project gaining as much as 1000 MW for use. He commented that the AIADMK had caused the most hurt to farmers and weavers.
