Army Chief designate reviews security scenario

Guwahati, Mar 14: Army Chief designate Lt Gen Bikram Singh on Wednesday reviewed the prevailing security scenario in Assam sector.

Lt Gen Singh, who is currently the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, is on a visit to the formations in the North East for a firsthand update on the numerous army initiatives as well as to take stock of the improving security scenario in Assam.

He was received Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal S Varthaman and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command and General Officer Commanding, Gajraj Corps, Lt Gen Shakti Gurung.

Singh was also given an operational update by Lt Gen Gurung, a defence release said.
