Lucknow, Mar 10: Akhilesh Yadav, the leader who changed political equations in Uttar Pradesh and led the Samajwadi Party (SP) to victory, will now head the state as CM.

Mulayam Singh Yadav's political descendant, Akhilesh, has the lion's share in the victory of SP in the Uttar Pradesh polls. Over two years of his unrelenting efforts to garner the trust of the voters paid off as SP party swept the assembly elections by overall majority.

Akhilesh in an exclusive interview with Rajesh Anand, the CM-designate, shared his happiness over the electoral victory and about his future endeavours to develop the India's highly populated state.

What do you want to say on SP's victory?

I knew the SP will perform better than the 2007 elections in Uttar Pradesh. However, to be honest we never expected this big win. Earlier, I was considering to forge alliances with other political outfits to form the majority, but the results took us by a sheer surprise.

Whom would you credit for this stunning victory?

Firstly, I would like to thank the youngsters of UP, who provided an unconditional support to me and my party that led us to the victory in the latest polls. Secondly, I extend my thanks to the media for their support. Above all, I'm indeed thankful to the voters for entrusting the SP to run the government in Uttar Pradesh.

What was your success Mantra for this electoral victory?

In pre-poll party meetings, I constantly asked the party workers not to repeat the previous mistakes. Abiding by my requests the party workers, mainly youngsters, refrained from indulging in any immoral activites to get the win in latest elections. That makes me feel proud about young workers who helped the party to maintain the legitimacy throughout the election process. And I expect the same kind of support from the youths to carry forward the momentum that they have created.

How will you change SP's image of 'Goondaraj'?

The SP government will do whatever it takes in restoring the law and order of the state. And I'd like to send a strong message through media to the people of UP: Please comply by the state's rule to maintain the tranquility in Uttar Pradesh. Violaters, troublemakers in Uttar Pradesh won't be spared henceforth. There shall be no let-up in delivering law to the culprits.

Meanwhile, now party workers have more responsibilities to maintain law and order of the state and I hope they understand their duties in rendering the desired governance.

How will you fulfill all your promises as they take whopping amount of money?

Be it loan for farmers, laptops for students, education for girls, our government would meet all the promises. Previous government had siphoned off lots of money in corruption and raising statues across the state. However, we will use the state's money appropriately and effectively in fixing existing economical problems and for other developments.

What kind of mechanism will you put in place to check employment problems in the state?

A special team would be commissioned to examine and work out a solution for the employment issues. And will implement the recommendations by the employment panel to fix the crippled job market. Like, Karnataka, Andhra Pardesh and other states we would encourage the multinational companies to start up business in our state that would create jobs for people of Uttar Pradesh.

What would be your course of action against previous regime's (BSP) corruption cases and statues across the state?

I would not comment anything on corruption cases against the previous government as the CBI is already investigating into the charges. And our government will not raze or tamper the statues and memorials built by the Mayawati government. Instead, we would use the vacant places to raise hospitals and educational institutions.
