Trouble for commuters, Auto fares hiked again in Bangalore

The revised auto rickshaw fare would be charged from Monday, Mar 12. The state government, following a meeting with auto union on Friday, Mar 9, announced that the auto charge would be hiked by Rs 3 for per kilometre.
“We had proposed that the minimum fare (for first two km) be Rs 24 and that the subsequent km be priced at Rs 12. But we have compromised for this rate," said The Auto Rickshaw Drivers’ Union (ARDU) president, Meenakshisundaram.
The auto drivers union also demanded to fix 33 paise as waiting charge per minute, however, the demand has not been sanctioned by the state government. The hike in auto fare is believed to the result after the recent hike in the LPG prices by over Rs 3. Sources informed that auto charges in Bangalore may come down in case the LPG prices fall again.
