BJP's Manohar Parikkar to swear-in as Goa CM today

New Delhi, Mar 9: BJP is all set to form the government in the beach state of Goa, when Manohar Parikkar will swear-in as the Chief Minister of Goa today (Friday). His third stint as CM, the party is planning to make it a grand event.

Many top BJP leaders are expected to attend the function including, L K Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Nitin Gadkari. The full 12 member Cabinet will also take charge on the same day. Parikkar had commented that his Ministers from the 2005 Cabinet will feature in the new government. Parikkar was the CM twice in from Oct 2000 to Feb 2005.

According to party sources, five ministers from the BJP and two from ally Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) would also take oath today. As per PTI reports, soon after the swearing-in, there will be a Cabinet meeting. The state budget is expected to be presented on Mar 24.

Parikkar has been quoted as saying, "I will hand over the list of priorities to the Chief Secretary after the Cabinet meeting." He added that the BJP-MGP alliance will start implementing the manifesto immediately but it would take little time to deliver.
