Ex-CM Ajit Jogi - First Indian to walk with robotic legs

Ajit Jogi
Raipur, Mar 9: Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, who turned paraplegic after a serious road accident eight years ago, is likely to walk again with the help of robotic legs.

The senior Congress leader will be the first Indian to walk with the help of robotic legs. Jogi has been wheelchair-bound since a road accident in 2004.

The 66-year-old politicians will reach Mumbai next week, where a team of New Zealand doctors would begin a trial with the robotic legs.

The robotic legs is designed to enable its users to stand, walk, scale stairs and navigate slopes. So, once the training is done, the device will be fitted as per Jogi's specifications to make it a perfect fit.

The IAS-turned politician Jogi met with a near-fatal accident in Apr 2004 during the Lok Sabha campaign in Chhattisgarh.
