UP Polls: Karunanidhi congratulates Mulayam on his victory

Chennai, Mar 7: With the stunning victory of Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Tuesday, Mar 6 congratulated Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Karunanidhi expressed his pleasure and claimed, "This is not a victory of democracy alone, this is a victory of backward and depressed classes.You have always been championing the cause of backward classes and minorities."

Expressing confidence over Mulayam, the DMK chief said that he will provide "excellent governance" to the people.

He also stated that the party has always "been at the forefront in protecting backward classes and minorities."

"Your party stands for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden." Wishing the young leader for the progress of the state, he said in a separate message to Mulayam's son Akhilesh Yadav.
