The risk is only in sitting at home, says Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, Mar 7: After the painful debacle in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2012, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed that he has nothing to lose and the risk was only in sitting at home.

While blaming himself for the dismal performance of the party in the state, he said, "I was leading the campaign. It is my responsibility."

After the shameful defeat, Rahul is ready to put more efforts to strengthen his party in the state, no matter what will be the outcome, as reported by The Hindustan Times.

Rahul also seems to have accepted the fact that caste politics plays a major role in Indian politics. (Read coverage of UP election 2012 here)

Moreover, the party's promise to provide reservation to backward Muslims created a fuss among the Hindus and this might be a reason behind the defeat.

"It's time he promoted youngsters from all sections who are available within the Youth Congress structure," said a partyman.
