Uttarakhand: Cong to focus on 2014 polls in selecting CM

Uttarakhand
New Delhi, Mar 6: The Congress Party is planning to decide the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand based on who can strengthen its gains for the 2014 elections, if they gain the majority to form a government in the state.

Moreover, the national party is likely to focus on local compulsions to balance with its national concerns in view of crucial 2014 Lok Sabha polls. [Read more on Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2012]

Meanwhile, state congress chief Yashpal Arya and leader of opposition Harak Singh Rawat said that party leadership may have looked to project Harish Rawat for the top state job if the party gain the majority on Mar 6 assembly poll result.

Sources said the post-poll scenario, even if the party wins, would not be easy since BJP too would be working with 2014 in mind. BJP's aggressive charge with B C Khanduri as mascot in these polls is likely to see it continue the pressure on Congress even if it loses the assembly polls.
