UP poll results: Akhilesh's Mysore education defeats Rahul
The party (SP) has already declared that Mulayam Singh Yadav will be the next Chief Minister of the state but his son Akhilesh Yadav grabbed all attention. Akhilesh, who acquired BE degree in Environmental Engineering and passed out in 1994 from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, (SJCE) Mysore, Karnataka, defeated Rahul Gandhi, a foreign educated star of Congress. However, Akhilesh also is a foreign educated man.
38-year-old Akhilesh was always compared with 41-year-old Rahul and this time he succeeded to shut all his critics. Party leaders and workers started celebrating holi on Tuesday as the party bruised Mayawati's reign and defeated Congress despite Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi's tremendous efforts to woo the voters. "Now that the results are known, it is clear people did not want political instability or uncertainty," said Mulayam Singh Yadav. [Read: Stage set for SP young gun Akhilesh Yadav to be made UP CM?]
Earlier Rahul had slammed Akhilesh saying, "I know Akhilesh. He speaks English, uses computers, but Mulayam Singh says that the poor in UP don't need computers or English. If that is so, why does Akhilesh speak English? Why does he use computers?"
Snubbing Rahul's charges, Akhilesh also claimed, "I am not against computers or English but I want preference for Hindi and Urdu."
After citing the election results, it is clear that Akhilesh with his down to earth nature managed to win the hearts of the people in Uttar Pradesh while Rahul failed to spell his charisma.
