Mamata Banerjee's nephew jailed for slapping traffic cop

Kolkata, Mar 1: Akash Banerjee, the nephew of Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, has been jailed after he allegedly slapped a traffic cop on Wednesday.

A complaint against Banerjee was filed by traffic cop Subhir Ghosh at Watgunge police station following which he was arrested.

Eyewitnesses account reveal that the accused was driving his car on the wrong side of the road when he was stopped by a traffic constable. Banerjee who claimed to be Mamata's nephew hurled abuses on the cop and slapped him.
