WB: Breakthrough for police, Kishenji's successor arrested

Kolkata, Mar 1: Kolkata police on Thursday, Mar 1 arrested five Maoists including a top Maoist leader believed to be from Andhra Pradesh with the help of Special Task Force (STF) from different parts of the city, said reports.

Sources said that the leader named Rama Krishna alias RK, a mechanical engineer and chief of the banned Communist Party of India, Maoist's Central Technical Committee who hails from Andhra Pradesh and is believed to be the successor of Mallojula Koteshwar Rao alias Kishenji, was killed by the security forces in a staged shootout in last Nov.

Meanwhile, a Kolkata court has sent them to police custody till Mar 13. Police believe the arrests will produce valuable information regarding Maoist activities within the city and its adjacent areas.
