TN: Trouble for Rosaiah; court to take action over land scam

Chennai, Feb 28: Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah is facing more trouble in the Ameerpet land scandal. Deposited papers and evidences against Rosaiah by IAS officials that were submitted to the court have been sent to President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by the Telangana Advocates Association.

A cheating and corruption case was slapped against Rosaiah over the denotification of 9.14 acres prime land at Maithrivanam in Ameerpet worth hundreds of crores.

Citing Supreme Court's judgement in the 2G scam, the defence counsel of complainant, T Sriranga R told the court that there is no need to take permission to carry legal action against public servants if they have done their duty with malafide intention.

"This judgement is applicable in the case of Mr Rosaiah too. The case was posted to March 2 for further arguments. The examination of witnesses is over," said Sriranga Rao.

"The final report prepared by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) giving clean chit to Rosaiah is politically motivated. ACB didn’t take the statements of IAS officials into consideration. There is strong evidence against Mr Rosaiah. We have sent a fresh letter to the President and PM to recall him," said Telangana Advocates Association.

Meanwhile, BP Acharya, Senior IAS officials and T Sanyasi Appa Rao were filed as witnesses in the case.
