Rameshwaram, Feb 26: Repeating the history, Sri Lankan navy once again attacked and arrested 22 fishermen from Tamil Nadu. The group of fishermen went near International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) for fishing, However, the navy officials of Sri Lanka claimed that the fishermen crossed the boundary line and trespassed into their region.

The Lankan navy seized five boats belong to the fishermen, while two more boats are missing, said sources on Sunday, Feb 26. According to sources, the detained fishermen have already been produced before a court in Talimannar in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan navy has been accused of attacking the Indian fishermen with stones, bottles and they allegedly damaged the boats of the Indian fishermen.

Citing the news, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa may face stern criticism who failed to stand on her words as earlier she had claimed that she would not "stop" till Katchchatheevu, an islet in the Palk straits now under the control of Sri Lanka, is retrieved.
