Midnight crackdown: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar raps UPA govt

While inaugurating a two-day seminar on Indian disapora and human rights issues, Ravi Shankar accused the political leaders, claiming that Delhi Police followed the orders of the leaders.
"The court has come heavily on the government. It is not just the police, but the people behind the police who have to be taken care of," Sri Sri said. "Police were only doing their duty and it was somebody else, who gave the instructions. So the buck does not stop there, as it was not the police alone who did this violence. It was a bad day for Indian democracy work needs to be done so that such incidents are not repeated," he added.
However, BJP leaders have asked to file a criminal case against Home Minister P Chidamabaram, holding him responsible for the crackdown.
"When the incident occurred last year, the Home Minister had justified the lathi charge and firing of tear-gas shells on the sleeping crowds, which even resulted in the death of an innocent woman. The home minister, now, can't dissociate himself from the incident. A criminal case should be registered against him," said Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, BJP leader.
