Ramlila: Chidambaram quitting on Swamy's demand?

Subramanian Swamy
New Delhi, Feb 24: After the Supreme Court came down heavily over Delhi Police's crackdown on Baba Ramdev and his followers, Janta Party president Subramanian Swamy and country's top lawyer Ram Jethmalani on Thursday, Feb 23, have demanded the resignation of the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, holding him responsible for the Delhi Police's action.

While, P Chidambaram has not declared any statement on his resignation over this issue.

In a statement, Swamy demanded Chidamabaram's resignation, "I demand that Chidambaram be asked to resign immediately, taking responsibility for the reckless violence by the Delhi Police...." Adding that he said police couldn't have taken such action unless they were asked to do so.

During a press conference with Baba Ramdev, Jethmalani said that "I want to know who has given power to the Home Minister...The police was found guilty of aggression. This should make somebody resign...Delhi Police is not the real culprit. Real guilty are the political masters."

"Of course, of course (Chidambaram should resign). He is the one who is responsible for this tragedy," he added.

In the press conference, Ramdev said that they have not read the full judgement declared by the Supreme Court. So, later they will give the details on the judgement.

Meanwhile, reporters asked the anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare to comment on the Supreme court's order, but he refused to do so, "I will react after reading the judgement."
