Yahoo cries foul, calls suit against them 'motivated'

Yahoo
New Delhi, Feb 21: With certain top notch websites and the Indian government caught in a dispute with regards to removing objectionable content from their websites, Yahoo India in its reply to the Delhi court has stated that the suit against it is "motivated" and should be dismissed.

Responding to the court's directions to file its reply on the matter, Yahoo India said, "The suit is a complete abuse of the process of law." The court had earlier ordered 21 social networking and other websites to remove objectionable content from their web pages.

Yahoo also urged the court to dismiss the suit filed against it. Praveen Singh, the Administrative Civil Judge during the last hearing on Feb 6 had given the ultimatum to the websites to file a written statement within 15 days and had also issued a warning to not display objectionable content on their sites.

Tuesday was the deadline given by the court to file their statements. Yahoo India filed its statement on Feb 17.
