Karnataka to be a slum-free state?

Karnataka
Shimoga, Feb 21: Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda said that the state government has decided to make Karnataka a slum-free state in the next 2-3 years.

Gowda expressed his happiness in title deed ceremony where the government distributed the title deeds to the most neglected people. On Saturday, the ceremony was organised by the Karnataka Slum Development Board and Department of Housing at the Kuvempu Rangamandir.

Gowda said that it has been started from Shimoga and will continue to all other districts in the state.

In Karnataka, there are over 2,722 slums, out of which 2,251 were declared as backward. Around 45 lakh people have been residing in those slums.
