DoT needs more than four-months for 2G auctions

New Delhi, Feb 18: The Telecom Department (DoT) has informed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that it will require more than four months to complete the process of 2G spectrum auctions, reports

Earlier, on Feb 2, the Supreme Court had set a deadline of four-months to complete the 2G auctions after cancelling all the 122 licences allotted in 2008 during the tenure of former telecom minister A Raja.

Report further said that DoT will take 13 months to complete all process connection to 2G spectrum auctions.

Furthermore the report revealed that in a presentation made to the PM and other senior cabinet ministers such as Pranab Mukherjee, P Chidambaram and Salman Khurshid last week, a senior DoT official said the 3G auction process had been completed in 688 days and that it plans to undertake the 2G bandwidth sale in 400 days.
