Ban on using mobile phone during meetings

Mangalore, Feb 18: In a move to make council meetings more effective, the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) mayor has issued a notice mentioning that councillors and officials of the MCC will not be allowed to use cellphones during council meetings, reports The Hindu.

The decision comes after a request made by councillor and former Mayor K. Ashraf of the Congress mentioning that some councillors and officials were always seen busy making or attending phone calls during the council meetings.

Morover, commissioner of the corporation Harish Kumar K made it clear that malaria will be fully controlled in next few years it best possible way.

Furthermore the reports said that the corporation would reserve special funds in its 2012-13 budget to tackle malaria. The Principal Secretary to the State Department of Health was likely to visit the city shortly to hold a meeting on the steps to tackle malaria, he added.
