US brushes aside Iran's Nuclear claim; calls it 'mere hype'

Tehran, Feb 16: A day after Iran displayed its nuclear might on television, US called the former's claim a 'mere hype' saying that Iran was only doing so to distract the world from the damage it did by international sanctions.

On Wednesday, Feb 15, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, while attending a press conference, spoke about the country's nuclear achievements.

Meanwhile, US is pressurising global banks to boot out Iranian banks from a network used to transfer money in a bid to deprive Tehran of funds required to develop nuclear weapons.

World oil prices spiked on Thursday, Feb 16 after reports that Iran would stop its crude exports to six European countries. The claim was, however, denied by the Iranian Oil Ministry.
