NRHM scam:Another death,more blood shed haunts Mayawati govt

Lucknow, Feb 16: Another death over National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam in Uttar Pradesh might prove as a major setback for Mayawati and her government when the crucial assembly election 2012 is underway in the state.

Mahendra Sharma, a clerk at health department was found dead at a public health centre in Lakhimpur Kheri on Thursday, Feb 16. Family of the deceased earlier had filed a missing report with Lakhimpur police as he was missing since Feb 7.

Mr Sharma's family members accused a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the region of pressurising Mr Sharma to fabricate fake documents. Later, he (Mr Sharma) was suspended by the CMO. The investigating agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had already probed the accused CMO over the same NRHM scam.

Meanwhile, Mr Sharma's kins demanded that Mr Sharma's postmortem should not be done by Lakhimpur doctors. Mr Sharma is the fifth person who is believed to have lost his life over the NRHM scam.
