Wipro, Infosys's West Bengal plans halted?

While Infosys said that it would bring its plans of construction to a halt until SEZ status was granted to them, Wipro said that it would not even consider a campus if was refused the status.
"We will have to wait for SEZ status before we start construction. If it does not come through, we will have to evaluate alternatives in terms of what we are being offered elsewhere," said S Gopalakrishnan, executive chairman, Infosys.
He, however, said that the company was hopeful of the project.
"Our agreement with the state government was that we would get all support for an SEZ," he said.
Earlier TCS was granted the SEZ status by the then ruling Left party and aquired 40 acres in Rajarhat but is yet to begin the construction on the land.
Infosys in Jan had said that it would begin construction on the land in six months.
