Riots: Setback for Guj;contempt notice to Narendra Modi govt

Ahmedabad, Feb 15: It might be proved as a major setback for Narendra Modi government in Gujarat as the High Court on Wednesday, Feb 15 sent a contempt notice to the government.

The Modi government has been sent the contempt notice after failing to compensate 56 people who were vastly affected during the Gujarat riots 2002.

The high court in 2011 asked the government to give money to the affected people but they have not received any money yet, sources reported. Bashing the state government, the court on Wednesday asked Gujarat government to file their reply within 15 days.

The High Court recently ordered the government to fund the repair of nearly 600 religious buildings that were targeted during the riots.
