Khanduri orders investigations into Roorkee bridge collapse

Khanduri, who himself conducted an on-the-spot inspection of the mishap site last evening, told officials that technical investigations be carried out by experts from IIT Roorkee along with the magisterial inquiry into the incident, an official release said.
Three labourers had drowned when the under-construction iron bridge on the Ganga canal in Roorkee collapsed on February 4 evening. The chief minister also directed the Principal Secretary PWD to present a detailed report on the incident.
Khanduri has announced an interim assistance of Rs one lakh each to the next of kin of the labourers. The bodies of the drowned labourers are, however, yet to be recovered despite a thorough search operation being conducted by police since Saturday evening.
