BSP thrashes Congress' film actress candidate

Lucknow, Feb 6: Congress candidate from Gorakhpur and Bhojpuri film actress, Kajal Nishad was beaten up by supporters of BSP candidate, Ram Bhulawan Nishad, by iron rods, lathis and stones while campaigning in Kakrakhor.

The actress and her supporters suffered injuries and their vehicles were also damaged by the BSP cadre.

Ram Bhulawan Nishad was standing close to Kajal Nishad while the former's supporters attacked her, but left the spot after the incident. The actress, however, sat on a protest and withdrew only after Sanjay Kumar, district magistrate promised action against the culprits.

"The police are working for the ruling BSP. I tried to register my complaint with Belipar police station but they refused to listen to me," she said.

Ram Bhulawan, however, claimed that his candidates were attacked by Kajal Nishad's.

"It happened because the authorities had given us both the permission to hold public meetings at the same place," she said.

"I was leaving Mahaveer Chapra when her supporters reached the spot and attacked us. We preferred to leave the place silently," he claimed.

It is believed that the reason behind the conflict is the fact that the actress, a nominee of Youth Congress has been drawing huge crowd in her rallies.
