Rupee gains 6 paise against dollar in early trade

Mumbai, Feb 3: The rupee on Friday rose marginally by 6 paise to trade at a fresh three-month high of Rs 49.09 per a dollar on the Interbank Foreign Exchange market in early trade.

Dealers said continued foreign capital inflows in the Indian market and weakening of dollar against the euro in the global markets, mainly kept rupee's sentiment firm.

The rupee had surged by 12 paise to close at a fresh three-month high of Rs 49.15 against the dollar on bullish stocks amid sustained dollar selling by banks and corporates. Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark Sensex rose by 37.07 points, or 0.21 per cent, to 17,468.92 in early trade today.
