Mayawati and Chidambaram
New Delhi, Feb 2: All media channels, newspapers, websites on Thursday, Feb 2 were being overwhelmed with the news of Supreme Court's verdict on Chidambaram regarding 2G spectrum scam. All media have been busy showing Subramanian Swamy, Supreme Court, Chidambaram and opposition parties statements following the verdict of the apex court.

However, one question may arise here - who was the gainer or who succeeded hide from the limelight on Thursday? Is it Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati?

On Wednesday, media was behind Mayawati and her friend and liquor baron - Gurpreet Chadha alias Ponty Chadha, whose residents and work places were raided by the Income Tax officers in UP and in Delhi.

Chadha had grabbed the headlines on Thursday as huge amount of money was seized during the raid, while contradictory media reports state that the amount of money recovered ranges between Rs 4.5 crore to Rs 125 crore.

However, the nation seems to have forgotten Chadha and Mayawati when it came to Chidambaram and 2G spectrum scam. Mayawati must be relieved as the booty found at Chadha's shopping mall could've bruised the UP chief minister's dream to continue her reign in the state. Chadha might have emerged as the major threat for Mayawati ahead of the crucial assembly election 2012.

Here it can be mentioned that the apex court on Thursday stated that 122 telecom licenses (2G spectrum which was allocated after Jan 2008 during A Raja's tenure) will be cancelled and the final verdict on Chidambaram will be pronounced by a trial court.
