CWG scam: Suresh Kalmadi turns from mastermind to scapegoat?

Panaji, Jan 31: With former Commonwealth Games (CWG ) Organizing Committee and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) chief Suresh Kalmadi granted bail in the CWG scam that brought considerable shame to the Centre, the BJP is utilizing every opportunity to cause more hurt to the ruling Congress govt through Kalmadi.

Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Venkaiah Naidu has stated that Kalmadi was made the scapegoat in the CWG scam. Speaking at a public function in Mapusa, 15 km from Panaji, Goa, Naidu also called PM Manmohan Singh a "mauni baba" (the silent sage) for his silence in the face of corruption.

Naidu questioned in the function, "Why was Kalmadi alone arrested in the CWG scam? Why was Delhi chief minister (Sheila Dikshit) not arrested? Why was the union sports minister not arrested? Why was the union urban development not arrested for the scam."

Naidu made these statements in the sidelines of the pre-poll campaign organised by the BJP in Goa. He added, "And in the face of all this corruption why is Manmohan Singh quiet? He is a mauni baba. He never acts against corruption."
