Bangalore: Northern corridor to get metro by Dec

Bangalore, Jan 31: Karnataka governor H R Bhardwaj announced that the 11-km northern corridor with 10 stations from Peenya to Sampige Road will commence operations by Dec 2012, reports DHNS.

Addressing the the joint legislature session, Mr. Bhardwaj said that the 7.5-km stretch of the Metro, which was opened on October 20, has got tremendous response from the public.

Meanwhile, the phase 1 of the Metro project is expected to be completed by Dec 1, 2013. The Metro had emerged as a boon to vehicle owners who are daily commuters as the petrol prices are rising across the state.

The Bangalore metro services of Reach 1 have been running for a distance of seven km from Mahatma Gandhi road to Byyappanahalli from morning 6am to evening 10 pm every day from Oct 20.
