BJP’s challenge to Congress - Make Rahul the PM
BJP National General Secretary and chief spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad gave the challenge while he was speaking to reporters. He said, “Let Rahul Gandhi become the Prime Minister...two years term is still left...let people know how much ability he has to run the country. More so, he does not need anything to become the PM, he only needs to ask Manmohan Singh to step down.”
Prasad also slammed the Congress, SP and BSP of polarising the Muslim votes. He commented, “Population of UP is 20 crore... whether the minorities alone are the voters... this is deeply unfortunate."
Making little of the challenge posed by the BJP, the Congress snapped back on the verbal attack. Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi replied on this suggestion and said, “Prasad has accepted the reality. BJP knows the leadership ability of Rahul Gandhi very well and it's defeat reflects from this statement.”
Singhvi also added that the party was confident of its victory in the five poll bound states and said that Rahul's leadership was like a storm of victory in the poll ground.
