Slight respite from cold wave conditions in Kashmir
The Gulmarg resort remained the coldest place in the Valley as the minimum temperature there was recorded at minus 11.2 degrees Celsius, the Met official here said.
Leh town in the remote Ladakh region was the coldest place in the state recording a low of minus 19 degrees Celsius, the official said.
He said the adjoining Kargil town recorded a low of minus 18.0 degrees Celsius.
Both the places recorded slightly warmer nights compared to previous nights when the mercury plunged to a record minus 23 degrees Celsius.
South Kashmir’s tourist resort of Pahalgam and the gateway town to valley, Qazigund recorded the minimum of minus 7.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
Meanwhile, residents of Srinagar city experienced a rare day of bright sunshine with the minimum temperature here recorded at minus 2.6 degrees Celsius, the official said.
The north Kashmir’s frontier town of Kupwara recorded a low of minus 3.5 degrees Celsius, he added.
