IndiGo Airlines averts collision with bus on runway

Jammu, Jan 22: IndiGo Airlines aircraft survived a tragedy after the pilot of the plane applied emergency brakes on time to save 168 passengers while preparing for a takeoff as a bus ferrying people appeared on the runway at the Jammu Airport.

The pilot noticed a bus entering the runway when the Airbus 320 aircraft, which was travelling from Jammu to Srinagar was cleared off for a takeoff by the ATC.

The aircraft was stopped immediately after the pilot applied the emergency brakes.

"This was not a reject takeoff. All 168 passengers and the aircraft are safe", said an IndiGo spokesperson in New Delhi.
