CWG aftermath: IOA to suspend ex-chief Suresh Kalmadi?

Suresh Kalmadi
New Delhi, Jan 22: The Congress MP from Pune and the former chief of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) - Suresh Kalmadi, who was sent to jail over alleged CWG 2010 irregularities, might be suspended soon.

Earlier IOA officials shocked and surprised many when Kalmadi, after getting bail, was offered the the post of President, Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

The shocker came from IOA itself, when the Vice president of IOA said that ‘there was no opposition to Kalmadi’ and added that he was free to join as the chief of the body in spite of his role in the multi-crore CWG scam. He is alleged to have siphoned off precious tax payers money through kickbacks and shoddy work.

However, later facing nation-wide criticism, many started demanding that Kalmadi should not be allowed to return as the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president following his release from jail on bail.

Now, it might be proved as a major setback for Kalmadi if IOA suspends Kalmadi and the another accused of CWG 2010 irregularities - Lalit Bhanot.
