Jayalalithaa changes political scenario in Tamil Nadu

Chennai, Jan 19: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Wednesday, Jan 18 re-allocated four ministers' portfolios. The sudden decision taken by the AIADMK chief has surprised many as many have already started speculating - is she trying to change the entire political scenario in the state?

Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah on Wednesday announced that the chief minister allocated C Ve Shanmugam the portfolio of Commercial Taxes, Registration and Stamps which was earlier held by Agri S S Krishnamoorthy.

According to sources, Shanmugam will be re-designated as minister for Commercial Taxes, Registration and Law, Courts and Prisons while continuing the portfolios of Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Prevention of Corruption.

However, Krishnamoorthy has been designated as minister for School Eduction, Sports and Youth Welfare. Meanwhile, another two ministers - SP Velumani and P Thangamani will swap their portfolios which are - Industries and Revenue respectively.
