No lessons learnt; West Bengal sees 9 more infant deaths

Malda, Jan 18: With no lessons learnt from the past, Mamata Banerjee's West Bengal saw yet another case of infant deaths. 9 infants have reportedly died in 24 hours. The hospital authorities claim that they died due to respiratory and breathing problems.

With the Malda hospital's image taking a beating in the recent past due to the shocking number of infant deaths, the matter is far from resolved regarding providing necessary infrastructure and facilities to the sick children. With the chilly weather also causing health issues to the infants, the haphazard attitude of the hospital staff is despicable.

Another fact is that with the increasing cases of infant deaths, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who also holds the health portfolio is not taking any immediate steps to avoid such incidents.
