Home Ministry in soup;Chidambaram's man takes bribe,arrested

New Delhi, Jan 17: An official of P Chidambaram's office has been arrested as he has been accused of accepting bribe in an extension of visa case. Ministry sources on Tuesday, Jan 17 informed that police arrested the official, though the ministry has not declared his name and other details yet.

Citing the news, many started criticising Chidambaram and his other colleagues in the ministry. It seems that corruption indeed has hit the roots on the country and once again it has been proved that Anna Hazare's struggle for Lokpal has not touched the Indians completely.

Here it can be recalled that once the 74-year-old Gandhian showed his disappointment with the UPA government while stating, "If the CBI is outside (of Lokpal Bill), then how will the Lokpal be strong? This system will save corrupt politicians. If CBI comes under Lokpal then (Home Minister) P Chidambaram will be in jail. You are saving corrupt politicians and say it is a strong Lokpal." Later Anna's close aide, Arvind Kejriwal was quoted as saying, "The Lokpal Bill will not have even investigating powers. You will complain to Lokpal but it cannot investigate. What Lokpal is the government setting up? It means the government is cheating people."

Now, it will be interesting to see how the union home ministry would react to the news where its officials has been arrested over taking bribe.
