Age-row: Army Chief VK Singh sues Indian Govt, moves SC

Calling his battle against the government as "battle of honour", General Singh moved the apex court to settle the controversy surrounding his date of birth. The decision of the court will also bring solution for the succession problem in the army.
Here it can be recalled that the Defence Ministry had rejected his statutory complaint to change his date of birth from May 10, 1950 to May 10, 1951– a step which would have given him an extra ten months in office.
However, General Singh claimed that his birth of year is 1951 and he will fight the against the central government not for extra tenure but for honour which believed to have been marred following the controversy.
