Threat mail to Sonia, Rahul, Chidambaram, Sibal; 2 arrested

Haryana, Jan 15: Two people were allegedly arrested for sending threat mails to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, HRD Minister Kapil Sibal, Home Minister P Chidambaram and Delhi Police Commissioner BK Gupta on Dec 25, said police.

"We have arrested the owner of Om Cyber Café Vikrant Kumar and Chotelal Kumar, both from Hazaribagh; and an FIR under the Information and Technology Act has been registered against them," said Sudarshan Prasad Mandal, Additional Superintendent of Police.

Two people were detained including another person on Jan 9 after the Delhi Police alerted their counterparts in Hazaribagh regarding the threat e-mails.

"The messages were sent on December 25 at 9.16 PM on 'Secret my liking at the rate of rediffmail.com.' server threatening to kill Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, B K Gupta, P Chidambaram, Kapil Sibal and some journalists, including (those working) in the Hindustan," said (daily) the ASP.

Reports reveal that Vikrant Krishna, the cafe owner, lived near Jhinjhiria, while another accused Chotelal Kumar lives near Babutola locality, Ichak Police station in Hazaribagh town.
