Jaipur, Jan 14: After the horrific case that saw rats nibbling the face, eyes and lips of a 70-year-old paralyzed man in a hospital in Rajasthan, another case has emerged from the same state. Emotions flared when the dead body of a woman was feasted by an army of rodents at Rajasthan's Beawar town on Friday.

The dead woman's body was lying in the mortuary when the incident happened on Thursday night. This is the second such gruesome case in the last three days, revealing the shoddy medical care facilities offered to the lesser privileged.

The incident occurred at the Amrit Kaur Government Hospital's mortuary in Beawar town of Ajmer district, some 170 km from Jaipur. Many NGOs and religious organisations took out protest marches on Friday against the medical negligence by hospital authorities.

The victim who had to take this cruel anomaly was identified as 24-year-old Janki Devi who died of a drug overdose. She was brought to the hospital for postmortem when she had to face a rat attack. It has been reported that the rats nibbled on her face and other body parts. The revelation was made by a doctor in the hospital on conditions of anonymity.

K.K. Chauhan, a primary health officer at the hospital commented, "We have launched an inquiry into the incident and action will be taken if any employee of the hospital is found negligent in carrying out duties."

On the case regarding the rat attack on the paralysed man, two employees have been sacked from the Mathura Das Mathur Hospital in Jodhpur.
