Jaipur: kites bearing Anna's image in sankranti

Jaipur, Jan 15: Anna Hazare has left behind all other politicians and film stars. Anna Hazare's image will be placed on the Kites in Pink City during Makarsankranti festival.

Jaipur market are decorated with colourful Kites of different shapes and sizes.

"Normally, enthusiastic kite-lovers purchase fancy kites which have multiple designs or pictures of film stars. This year, we are observing, that many people are buying fancy kites just because they have Anna's picture on them," said Abdul Hameed, an old kite trader.

Kites manufacturers have prepared Kites bearing Anna's image in large numbers as the Gandhian has been in the news for the last few months.

Anna Hazare has gripped the headlines for the last few months so the Kite manufacturers thought to prepare Kites bearing Anna's image.

Hameed declared the rates of the fancy Kites which starts from Rs 10. "Fancy kites are made up of plastic and have prints of different icons like politicians and film stars.This year, Anna is a hot favourite," Hameed added.

"Rates of kites and manjhas have gone up by 20-40% and there is shortage of stock in markets but despite this, we hope for a good business because schools are closed due to cold and children are free. Moreover, Makarsakranti is falling over the weekend, and weather conditions are favourable," said Prakash Panwar, kite trader.

Mohammad Usman, a shopkeeper stated that Bareilly is always for Kites and thread as the city manufactured in a huge quantity but this year there is shortage of manjhas.

Shopkeepers said that this year, Kites prices are higher than the previous year but the sale has not declined.
