Subramanian Swamy gets bail for anti-Muslim article

New Delhi, Jan 13: Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy, who had filed an anticipatory bail in the case regarding the 'inflammatory' article against Islam, was ordered interim protection against his possible arrest till Jan 30 by the Delhi High Court.

He had moved the court after the Crime Branch, Delhi Police filed an FIR in his name for writing the inflammatory article against Islam in a popular national daily. The article titled, 'Analysis: How to wipe out Islamic terror' was published in the DNA newspaper. The police, while registering the FIR had alleged that the article will spread enmity among communities.

Swamy's plea filed in court through his counsel Maheen Pradhan was heard by Justice M L Mehta. His plea also mentioned that the Delhi Police may arrest him on the orders of the Home Minister P Chidambaram. He stated that his arrest will prevent him from deposing against Chidambaram in the 2G case.
