Now, Christians oppose mass Surya Namaskar in MP
Sources said that the Christian groups have opposed the move for world record claiming that the exercise regimen is a religious activity as sun is being termed a God.
Meanwhile, despite firm opposition to the 'Surya Namaskar' exercise, over 50 lakh students across Madhya Pradesh took part in it on Thursday, Jan 12. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan lead the exercise from the front aiming to enter Guinness Book of world Records for largest aerobics demonstration.
Earlier in Jan 11 the Muslim community had termed the move as un-Islamic and issued a fatwa over the issue which was also sanctioned by the Shahar Qazi, Sayyed Mushtaq Ali Nadvi.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made it clear that the exercise was not organised merely with an aim to get the feat registered in the Guinness Book of Records.
The main opposition party Congress has termed the exercise as saffron agenda planned by RSS leadership along with Bharatiya Janata Party.
