Metro: Kochi snubs Bangalore, goes Delhi's way !

Kochi, Jan 12: After a crucial meeting on Wednesday, Jan 11, Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy declared that Delhi Metro Corporation (DMRC) will implement the Kochi Metro project. After holding the meeting with the former Delhi Metro chief, E Sreedharan, the CM announced his decision.

After receiving the news, many started questioning about Kerala's decision to not to allocate Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) to implement the Kochi Metro project.

Here it can be recalled that Delhi Metro had undertaken the responsibility of planning the commuter systems in Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, Karnataka government gave its green signal to take up second phase of Bangalore metro project of 72 kms at an investment of about Rs 27,000 crore. [Read: Cabinet clears Rs 27,000 cr for Bangalore metro phase-II]
