AI cabin crew get partial payment, call off strike

Air India
Mumbai, Jan 12: Air India Cabin crew personnel will resume work after they were partially paid on Wednesday, Jan 11, said sources.

The cabin crew personnel went on strike after the airline management failed to pay them allowances for five months.

The crew had been protesting against non-payment of salaries for the past two months and their sustenance allowance since Aug 2011.

The crew is given monthly sustenance allowance ranging from $ 800-$ 1,500 and paid for expenses like transportation and meals, when the crew in between the flight is on a 'lay over' aboard.

"We have been paid allowance for August and so we will go back to work. We hope we won't have to go on strike again for payment of allowance for the pending four months," a source in All India Cabin Crew Association said.
