Jharkhand: Is Brahmaputra train accident a conspiracy?

New Delhi, Jan 11: Five people lost their lives and many were left critically injured when Delhi-bound Bramhaputra Mail, which was coming from Dibrugarh, Assam, collided with a goods train while passing through Karonpuroto on Wednesday, Jan 11. Who should be blamed for such pathetic accident? The railway minister, the authorities or someone else?

However, after getting the details of the accident, many have already started speculating that it might be a conspiracy. According to sources, the goods train was rolling back on the main railway track and collided with the Bramhaputra Mail which was coming on the same route. The Bramhaputra Mail derailed following the collision with the goods train. Praveen Srivastav, Superintendent of Police (Rail) has been quoted as saying, "A bogie of 14055 Bramhaputra Mail derailed and dashed against a stationary goods train."

Railway PRO Anil Saxena, meanwhile, claimed, "They are all focusing on relief and rescue operations. Railway Board in Delhi is taking stock of the entire accident and once the relief and rescue operations are over and the investigation done, if somebody is found responsible or careless, stern action will be taken against that railway employee."

However, Dinesh Trivedi, the Railway Minister announced a compensation of Rs five lakh each for the kins of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those seriously injured. Passengers, who received minor injuries, will get a compensation of Rs 10,000.

Despite the announcement of the compensations, questions over railway authorities' carelessness still remain. Everytime the accidents take place and similar kind of investigations and statements come from the authorities and government. But will anyone be punished for this gruesome crime which killed so many innocent people?
