UP poll 2012: Crores of money seized, Business disrupted

Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow, Jan 10: Ahead of the crucial assembly election 2012, business in Uttar Pradesh has been disrupted vastly. The latest news surfaced following the reports which say that a huge amount of money (black money or unaccounted money) has been seized from several parts of the state.

However, Election Commission (EC) has already deployed the special "flying squads" (comprising of one magistrate-level officer and other junior police man who only have been given permission to seize unaccounted money.

Showing their concern about circulation of black money during election campaign by several political parties, District Magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar, Hridesh Kumar said, "We want to assure people that the police will only seize unaccounted money. Furthermore, only the flying squad will be allowed to check and seize unaccounted cash from vehicles."

Here it can be recalled that cash worth Rs 13.11 crore at Indirapuram, Link Road, and Masuri areas of Ghaziabad was seized by the police on Monday, Jan 9. The seizure happened as a part of a checking operation before the upcoming UP elections.
