Chennai, Jan 10: Looks like DMK MP Kanimozhi has bigger and better things planned for her within the party. It has been reported that a highest policy-making committee that will convene a meeting on Feb 3 will see Kanimozhi elevated in the party ranks. She was recently released on bail for her alleged role in the 2G spectrum scam. It is also believed that DMK chief Karunanidhi is all for elevating his daughter Kanimozhi to a better position within the party.

The agenda for the meeting will discuss organizational elections and membership matters. The DMK will also discuss the long term plans to formulate regarding the next general elections slated to be held in the next two years. The audit report will also be presented on the occasion. Though not explicitly mentioned in the agenda, there are speculations that Kanimozhi will be given a plump post in the party.

With no statement made, the indications for the same was clear when the party’s literary and cultural wing headed by Kanimozhi organized a public celebration for the first time on the occasion of her 45th birthday. She was however not present at the function.

The occasion however saw Kanimozhi's mother, Rajathi Ammal making an emotional speech that mentioned Kani's ordeal in jail. She said that her daughter went through the ordeal for the sake of the family and the party. She also stated that Kanimozhi did not have any role to play in the scam and that she would prove her innocence in court. Rajathi Ammal is understood to have great influence over Karunanidhi.
