New Delhi, Jan 9: The Supreme Court on Monday, Jan 9 made it clear that if the information provided in the affidavit submitted by Delhi Police found to be wrong about the midnight crackdown on Yoga Guru Ramdev and his followers at the Ramlila ground during their protest against corruption, then SC will issue notices to the Home Ministry and the Central Government.

According to the affidavit filed in the apex court Delhi Police had claimed that it acted on its own during the crackdown. Earlier, SC appointed Amicus Curiae Rajiv Dhawan earlier had informed that the midnight crackdown on June 4-5, 2011 was a pre-planned crackdown to meet political benefits and that the Delhi Police was in constant touch with Home Ministry.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police blamed Baba Ramdev saying the authorities had granted permission to Ramdev to use the ground only to hold a yoga camp and not for any other purpose.

The Apex Court had on June 6, 2011, taken suo motu cognizance of the police action and asked the Centre and Delhi Police to explain why it resorted to such an action in the middle of the night.

Earlier, on Nov 25, 2011, the Supreme Court sought an explanation from Delhi Police, the reasons for not waiting till the morning.
