States polls: Mayawati richest among 5 Chief Ministers

Mayawati
New Delhi, Jan 8: BSP supremo Mayawati is the richest among the chief ministers of the five states going to Assembly Election in 2012. According to an affidavit submitted to Election Commission, UP Chief Minister has assets worth Rs 87.27 crore.

Sources further claim that Manipur CM Ibobi Singh has the lowest net worth of Rs 6.09 lakh but he is also the only person among the CMs of state to recoup PAN information.

Meanwhile, Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal has assets worth Rs 9.20 crore whereas Uttarakhand CM has declared assets worth Rs 1.69 crore. Further more Goa CM Digambar Kamat has declared assets of Rs 3.23 crore.

The forthcoming assembly elections will be crucial for Congress-led UPA government in the states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. Meanwhile, Punjab assembly election will create a massive competition between the ruling Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) combine and the Congress while in UP it would be a head to head contest between BSP and Congress.

Recently ruling Congress made an seat-sharing agreement with Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) to affirm its victory in western UP, where Ajit Singh's party has a sizeable vote bank among the Jats, Muslim and upper caste votes.
